tread lightly
It isn’t enough just to use materials that are sustainable, production techniques and business practices have to reflect that commitment to environmental responsibility. Here are some of the ways we do just that.
-95% of materials used in production are sourced in the province of Nova Scotia.
-95% of water used in fabrication and finishing is collected rainwater.
-Clients are given the option to have aggregates from building site excavation sampled to determine usability in the concrete architectural components.
-Recycled materials (ie. glass) can be used in production.
-Concrete will not burn, rust, rot, therefore does not require replacement as frequently (if at all) as compared to other building materials.
-Components are precast, meaning that all work is confined to a controlled environment where it can be monitored and dealt with in a responsible/efficient manner. As a result, subsequent construction waste can be minimized.
-Each piece is custom made, therefor nothing is produced for inventory. This reduces energy and waste in manufacturing, materials, transportation, staff time and storage/building requirements.
-Flyash used in production, a byproduct of the coal combustion process.
-Concrete components themselves can be recycled when and if they become obsolete.
